See How The Senate Bill Doesn’t Meet Our Minimum Simplifications
The True Simplification of Taxation (TruST) Coalition represents American businesses in the fight to keep interstate commerce and competition free from unfair tax burdens imposed by states where our businesses have no operations or representation.
Led by the American Catalog Mailers Association (ACMA), Direct Marketing Association (DMA), the Electronic Retailing Association (ERA), and NetChoice, TruST believes that Congress should not overturn the physical presence standard in Quill without first requiring by statute the simplification of sales and use taxes within the States as well as simplification of the administrative requirements for collection and auditing of those taxes.
In line with its stated purpose, the TruST Coalition focuses its efforts on:
-
- Educating Congress about the need for true simplification in any federal legislative proposal that would overturn the physical presence standard in Quill.
- Advocating that Congress oppose any federal legislation that would overturn the physical presence standard in Quill without requiring by law that states simplify their sales taxes and reduce the administrative requirements for the collection and auditing of those taxes.
- Encouraging Congress to support federal legislation that would require the states to simplify sales taxes and reduce administrative burdens for collection and auditing of those taxes, as part of any legislation that overturns the physical presence standard in Quill.
